Joseph Meissner, Attorney

I commend ProFamiles Ohio for publicizing Ohio law. It is criminal to abandon one’s spouse, and one can get support for necessaries in common pleas court. If all the domestic relations lawyers publicized these laws, a woman that wants to leave her husband for another man, could not use the power of the state to order him to give her half the marital property and pay her spousal and child support after she abandoned him and moved in with her adulterous consort. Instead, the decent husband would have the upper hand in any negotiation in a separation plan. Partners at time of marriage make a separate pledge to each other which should protect either spouse from the bad behavior and desertion by the other.
