Father Jim Blount, SOLT – Miracles of the Rosary and Marriage
Be encouraged by Fr. Jim Blount. Watch his full presentation on YOUTUBE.
Father Blount introduces the account as a story about the power of the Rosary from his time serving in Belize. (3:58–4:16)
He says a Belizean senator, whom he describes as the number-three man in the government, had been married for more than 40 years with six children but left his wife for a woman younger than his youngest daughter and built the woman a mansion down the street from the family home. (4:40–5:30)
After the husband had been gone about five years, his wife came to Father Blount with her elderly mother and five of their six children. Father describes the wife as sad, her mother as crying, and the children as depressed. (6:17–8:22)
Father asked whether she still loved her husband and wanted him back. When she said yes, he told her, “stop crying and start praying.” He says she had fallen into a “stupor of self-pity” and compares his forceful intervention to helping someone who is drowning: rather than letting the person drown, you say, “Give me your hand,” and pull the person out. Father says, “I had to get her attention.” (8:29–10:19)
Father told her that her husband belonged with her through the sacrament of matrimony and instructed her to pray all four sets of Rosary mysteries every day. He told her that her husband would be back by Christmas. (10:19–11:10)
The wife followed his instruction faithfully. She returned a week later with a large basket of fruit to thank him and thereafter came about once a month; Father says she continued praying the four Rosaries every day. (11:36–13:02)
On December 11, Father learned that the senator had returned home to his wife the previous night and wanted Father Blount to hear his confession. Father traveled to their home and found husband and wife together. (13:02–15:07)
Father heard the senator’s confession for about half an hour and then anointed him, praying that God would heal his heart, restore his marriage, and restore his love for his wife. (15:07–16:25)
Father recounts that when he touched the senator’s forehead with the oil, the senator was thrown across the room and rendered unconscious or unresponsive. The six children gathered around him and prayed the Rosary, and Father says that after about half an hour the senator woke up appearing joyful and newly in love. (16:25–20:19)
The next day, December 12, the senator and his wife appeared together at Father’s crowded healing Mass. The senator publicly thanked Jesus and his “beautiful and faithful wife” for forgiving him and apologized to the Catholic Church and the nation of Belize for his behavior and example. Father says the congregation stood and applauded for 15 minutes. (20:29–22:31)
