What if the Beatitudes were written to encourage those standing for their marriage?
The Standers Beatitudes
A) Blessed are the standers poor in spirit,
for their marriage vow is bound in the kingdom of heaven.
B) Blessed are the standers who mourn the loss of their spouse and family,
for they will be comforted in God’s good time.
C) Blessed are the meek standers,
for they will inherit the land of eternal friendship.
D) Blessed are the standers who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be justified.
E) Blessed are the standers merciful to their spouses,
for they too will be shown mercy by God.
F) Blessed are the faithful standers clean of heart,
for they will see God touch the heart of their spouses.
F) Blessed are the peacemaker standers,
for they will be called reconcilers of families.
G) Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of standing,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
H) Blessed are you standers when your spouse and family insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you because of your stand.
I) Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven. Thus they persecuted those that stood for marriage who were before you, especially St. John the Baptist, St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher.

May we remember that our stand is not only for upholding the truth of our marriage, but also in defense of God’s Will for families.
See two articles about the three saints mentioned above whose initial stand for the sanctity of marriage ultimately led to their martyrdom:
St. John the Baptist: Martyr for the Sanctity of Marriage (Catholic Standard)
Sts. Thomas More & John Fisher: Martyrs for Faith & Freedom (Catholic Company)
